India ink on Bristol paper, 11x14" (frame not included)
Elementary cellular automata are exciting because very simple rules result in interesting, seemingly-complex patterns. For these drawings, a random starting state is used for the first row and 120 rows (generations) are shown. The automaton is drawn as a connected graph with circles on nodes that only have one neighbor. The transition rules are shown in a legend at the bottom in binary form.
I personally fulfill these orders on demand. Drawn with an AxiDraw V3/A3 pen plotter using a Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph technical pen on Strathmore Smooth Bristol paper. I number and initial each drawing by hand.
